PE-NORDIC Study
Reperfusion Treatment in Acute Pulmonary Embolism: A Multicenter Observational Study in the Nordic Countries
Study Overview
PE-NORDIC is a prospective observational multicenter study comparing outcomes of different treatment strategies for acute pulmonary embolism.
Study Design
Prospective multicenter observational cohort study in Sweden and Denmark.
Eligibility
Adult patients with acute pulmonary embolism treated with CDI or ST.
Timeline
Three-year inclusion period from Q2 2025 to Q2 2028.
Purpose
PE-NORDIC is a comprehensive multicenter study designed to advance our understanding of severe pulmonary embolism and evaluate the effectiveness and safety of current treatment approaches.
Pulmonary embolism remains a significant health concern with high mortality rates in severe cases, requiring immediate intervention to restore blood flow. Currently, two main reperfusion strategies exist: systemic thrombolysis and catheter-directed interventions. Despite the increasing adoption of catheter-directed techniques in both high-risk and intermediate-risk patients, there is a notable lack of comparative evidence between catheter-directed treatment and standard of care. This study aims to address this critical knowledge gap and provide essential data to help guide clinical decision-making.
